ALLAHABAD: The elections of Allahabad University Teachers Association (AUTA) will be held in October. This was decided in the meeting of the general house of AUTA on Wednesday.
The last AUTA elections were held in September 2009. Though the elections should be held every year, they were not held for the past two years and no meeting of the general house was convened.
The meeting had three agenda but it failed to address any of them as the members started protesting. The members alleged that the office-bearers of AUTA failed to fulfil their promises.
Amid the pandemonium, it was unanimously decided that fresh elections will be held in October. The member teachers appointed Prof Manmohan Krishna of the economics department as the returning officer. The detail election programme will be announced later.
