The case came to fore on Thursday morning when the family members of one

reached the temple and found the idols missing.
The news spread like wildfire in the area and scores of people assembled at the temple premises.
Upon being alerted, a team of Nawabganj police also reached the spot and carried out investigations. Inspector (Nawabganj) told TOI that and an FIR has been registered regarding the incident. “Two police teams have also been pressed into service to crack the incident,” he added.
Locals told police that the ashtadhatu idol of Radha-Krishna was also stolen in 2006 from the same temple but police managed to recover it after a hard work of four months.
Police have assured the agitating villagers that the stolen idol would be recovered soon.
