'AMC shielding real culprits'

ALLAHABAD: Municipal commissioner Ashok Kumar along with other officials visited the site at Preetam Nagar on Friday where two labourers died on March 25 during the laying of underground sewerline. The AMC authorities visited the site as part of an investigation directed by the state government.
A delegation of corporators comprising Kamlesh Singh, Anand Ghildiyal, Shiv Sewak Singh, Shiva Tripathi and others also visited the site where the investigations were going on.However, they have alleged that AMC authorities are shielding the real culprits due to whose laxity the tragic incident happened. They also said that it was also ironical that the engineers whose laxity were responsible for the tragic incident were also involved in the investigation.
Talking to TOI, Ashok Kumar refused to divulge the details about the inquiry which is being conducted. However, he accepted that there was flaw due to which the tragic incident occurred.
It is pertinent to mention that two labourers were digging pits for laying underground sanitary pipelines when a portion of the earth caved in burying the both.
