Allahabad will soon be called 'Prayagraj'

After Mughalsarai Junction renamed to Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, now governor Ram Naik has approved a proposal of the UP government to rename Allahabad to Prayagraj. The proposal was made by a nodal body of Hindu monastics Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad and other monks.

ALLAHABAD: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said Allahabad will soon be re-christened Prayagraj. The state has earlier renamed Mughalsarai Junction and Mughalsarai as Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar, after the co-founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
The formal announcement on Saturday came after governor Ram Naik approved a proposal for the same.
