Chaos prevailed on the campus of law faculty of Allahabad University on Friday when a group of students of the faculty were assaulted by fellow students.

ALLAHABAD: Chaos prevailed on the campus of law faculty of Allahabad University on Friday when a group of students of the faculty were assaulted by fellow students. The two groups had picked up a fight over the annual fest of the faculty, Lex-Fest.
According to reports, students had organised several programmes during Lex-fest. In one event held on Thursday, of tug-of-war the students of part-III and IV of the Law Five year course were competing against each other.

While the students of 4th year won the event, one student of part-III was dragged for some distance to which the junior batch objected. However, things were settled among students on Thursday.
However, some students and their friends from outside arrived at the department on Friday and started thrashing one student. Soon the seniors intervened and things were brought to control. "This is an important event of the department and as such it should be held as per schedule and not get derailed because of some students", said student leader Abhishek Yadav who brokered peace between two groups.
Later, student leaders and students involved in the incident met head of the department along with the chief proctor Prof MA Tiwari and police and settled the issue.
