ALLAHABAD: Two children, Mehngu Lal (10) and Shatrughan (8) of Fazipur village under
Manjhanpur
police station of the neighbouring

were burnt alive when their hut caught fire in the wee hours of Tuesday. However, the rest of the family members, including their father Deena Nath, mother Nathi Devi and five siblings managed to come out before the fire could engulf the entire family.
According to SP Kaushambi, Pradeep Gupta, Deena Nath and his wife work in a brick
kiln
located at Gobarsahai under Sadar police station. The family stays in a temporary thatched hut located near the kiln.
“In the wee hours of Tuesday, their hut caught fire, probably because of lantern or a bidi, and because of the winds, the fire spread quickly. Before the fellow labourers could come out for help, the fire engulfed the hut killing two kids who were trapped,” said the official.
However, five other children were saved with minor burn injuries. They were treated at the government hospital of Manjhanpur.
