ALLAHABAD: With rains not in sight and power playing truant, it's a double trouble for the natives of Sangam city.
Localities which have been hit hard include those where work related to shifting of roadside poles is in progress. This is in the backdrop of the fact that local faults erupt at regular intervals during the course of shifting if proper care is not taken while shifting the poles and overehead cables, complained Rajesh Pathak, a resident of Ahiyapur locality.
He said that power supply of the area has been badly affected during the last few days with incidents of unscheduled rostering and local faults rising at an alarming rate. This is because faults which crept up during the course of shifting remained unattended for a long period.
Similar was the plight of residents of Civil Lines and adjoining localities where power played truant during the last few days affecting the daily schedule of residents and business establishments, complained a resident, Prithvi Pal.
At Daryabad and adjoining localities like Atala, Rasoolpur, Attersuiya and Meerapur, residents have complained about unscheduled rostering duiring night hours leaving the residents fuming and fretting, said a resident Syed Abid Ali.
He said that apart from regular rostering of three hours, the residents are also subjected to unscheduled rostering during day and night hours.
On being contacted, executive engineer, Administration, Mohd Feroze said that "The problem has arisen in view of unexpected rise in load and simultaneous exercise of widening of roads and shifting of electricity poles."
He however promised that things would be addressed soon and normal supply would be restored in the affected localities.
