ALLAHABAD: Even as no violent
protest against the citizenship law and NRC was reported in Sangam city in the past 72 hours, police along with the personnel of Rapid Action Force on Sunday conducted a foot march in many city areas to ensure law and order.
Police forces were deployed in all 16 static/sensitive and mixed populated pockets to maintain law and order. Police have also barricaded some of the routes including Civil Lines to restrict any protest marches that might occur. They were also prepared with the route diversion plans for vehicles to tackle protests.

remained open throughout the day. There was moderate turnout of customers too. It was a usual Sunday in the city as families were seen at city parks and other public places, enjoying the holiday.
The policemen assigned duties at
Subhash Crossing
were asking people not to stand in groups in view of imposition of Section 144 of CrPc.
Internet services remained suspended for the day. People were unable to utilize online services including taxi service, railway and bus bookings. A long queue of passengers seeking reservation, was witnessed at the railway station.
On Friday, a massive crowd of protesters, which assembled in several old city localities, had marched to Subhash Crossing to mark their protest against the Citizenship Act and NRC.
Shantanu Singh, one of the persons in the queue at the railway junction said, “I had to travel all the way to the railway station and spend two hours here to get the reservation done, owing to the internet suspension.”
