Alam processions taken out in Allahabad

ALLAHABAD: Alam processions and mehndi juloos were taken out on the third day of Muharram. Besides, majlis are being organised in the old city areas like Dariyabad, Rani Mandi, Chak and Kareli in memory of Imam Husain and his 72 followers.
The mehndi procession of Sabzi Mandi was taken out on the traditional route starting from Garhi Sarai, Nakhas Kohna crossing, Kotwali, Bajaja patti, Clock Tower and returned back to Shahganj. Many people turned up to give shoulders to mehndi which was decorated with roses and other flowers.
The Alam procession of Rasoolpur was taken out under the leadership of Nisar Khan. The procession started from Imambara, Tulsipur and proceeded on its traditional route and reached Dariyabad graveyard.
Next, it turned towards Khatri Pathshala, Gol Park, Atala crossing, Rasoolpur graveyard and terminated at Imambara. In the procession, people beat drums while others were wielding lathis.
A procession was also taken out from Dariyabad Qadam Rasool which proceeded on its traditional route. People also performed matam and recited 'nauhas'.
