ALLAHABAD: Demanding rolling back of fee hike in English medium schools of the city, members of Abhibhawak Ekta Samiti, staged a dharna at Bishop office on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, convener of the samiti, Vijay Kumar Gupta said that fee is being hiked at several schools of the city despite the issue being raised at all levels. The pleas given by schools are many like rising prices, inflation, introduction of recommendations of sixth pay commission.
Secretary of the samiti, Suman Goswami said that 40 percent fee was hiked in 2009 which came down to 20 percent in 2010 but it has once again been increased to 30 to 40 percent in 2011. Schools are charging from Rs 2,000 to 5,000 in the name of sporting activities while the common man is unable to impart quality education to children.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Friday principal, Jumna Christian Junior High School, I E Gowan said that keeping in mind the matter raised by some parents and guardians, the school management has decided to revise the fee hike in the school. The total fee hike this year is less than Rs 100 per month which has further been revised.
