PRAYAGRAJ: Acting on an application moved by the UP government, the
Allahabad high court
on Tuesday extended till April 10 the deadline for filing of the compliance report on the removal of the 'name and shame' hoardings put up across Lucknow city. In Kanpur, however, six of the 21 accused of damaging public properties during anti-CAA protests have already shelled out about Rs 80,000 after being served recovery notices.
The application, filed by the state government on Monday, had cited its special leave petition before the Supreme Court to seek more time from the court, which had asked it to file its compliance report by March 16 after removing the hoardings carrying names, addresses and pictures of 57 persons accused of vandalising properties during anti-CAA protests in Lucknow on December 19.
While accepting the request application moved by the Lucknow DM on Monday, a division bench comprising Chief Justice
Govind Mathur
and Justice
Ramesh Sinha
observed: "At this stage we deem it appropriate to extend the time for filing the compliance report up to 10th April 2020." Advocate general

, on behalf of UP, submitted that in light of pendency of the SLP and the order passed therein, it would be appropriate to have compliance report after disposal of the SLP.
