55-year-old Samajwadi party worker shot dead in Allahabad

A 55-year-old worker of Samajwadi party and trader dealing with carpet industry identified as Gulam Mustafa, a resident of Waliganj was allegedly shot dead by his friend near a tea stall of the village under Handia police station, here on Sunday evening.

ALLAHABAD: A 55-year-old worker of Samajwadi party and trader dealing with carpet industry identified as Gulam Mustafa, a resident of Waliganj was allegedly shot dead by his friend near a tea stall of the village under Handia police station, here on Sunday evening.
Following the incident, the irate family members and supporters blocked the traffic movement on Baraut -Dashrathpur road demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.

The family members were adamant that they would not be handing over the body to the police for post mortem till the District Magistrate and SSP reached the spot and ensured the arrest of killer.
Upon receiving information, police forces of three police stations reached the spot.
SSP, Allahabad, KS Emmanuel told TOI the situation was tense but under control. He further added ? we have assured family members and supporters to arrest the culprit at the earliest.
Police said slain Samajwadi Party worker was in business of carpet industry and was sitting with one of his close friend named as Pappu Singh, a resident of Pratappur.
Police further maintained Pappu Singh, in an inebriated state, had asked the carpet trader to arrange a dinner for him. When the trader did not response, Pappu singh all of a sudden lost his cool and took out country made pistol and shot at him at the point blank range. The bullet reportedly hit the face of carpet trader and died on spot.
SSP, meanwhile, added police teams have been dispatched to ensure the arrest of accused. He further maintained, police investigations are on.
