50 students to be enrolled in each govt school from July
Prayagraj: With over 1.5 lakh government-run primary and upper primary schools spread across the state are set to reopen on July 3 (Monday) after the summer vacations, teachers have been given a target to enroll 50 new children in every school in this session. The move comes after a review of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ in April/May had found that the progress of new enrollments in these government schools was unsatisfactory. Therefore, all the officials have been ordered to ensure that non-school going children in every development block of the state are identified and their enrollment is done in nearest government primary or upper primary school this July, officials said. Along with this, the Director general (School Education) Vijay Kiran Anand has also instructed these teachers that similar to the professionalism shown by their counterparts working in private schools, teachers of these government-run schools should also work hard to teach students and ensure their learning. In the review meeting of Divisional Assistant Director of Education (Basic) and District Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSAs), the Director general had asked officials to make the 2023-24 session an ‘ideal session’. Instructions have been given to them to ensure 100% enrollment of non-school going/ dropout students in classes 5 to 8 to ensure that they continue their studies. Along with this, the officials have been asked to also make sure presence of 90% students in schools in relation to the total enrollments. BSA-Prayagraj Praveen Kumar Tiwari said that special care will be taken that no six-year-old child is left out of schools in Prayagraj. In the current academic session, action will be taken to provide money withdrawal facility to parents of students enrolled in government-run primary and upper primary schools of the state through Banking Correspondent (BC) Sakhi. On behalf of the government, Rs 1,200 is sent directly to bank accounts through DBT for free uniform, school bags, shoes and socks/stocking etc to each child. For this, instructions have been given to get 100% aadhaar enrollment of all these school students and aadhaar verification of parents done on top priority, officials said.
