2 held for cow smuggling and slaughtering

Prayagraj: Two persons have been arrested by a team of Tharwai police here on Wednesday on the charges of cow smuggling and slaughtering near Yadav dhaba near village Deoria while planning to escape. The police have also seized one country made pistol of 0.315 bore along with two live cartridges from their possession. The arrested persons identified as Rizwan and Luvkush Tiwari, were residents of Rampur and Bahraich. Police here claimed, “On March 23, a container with around 16 cows carcasses and four live animals were recovered near Lakhrawa village, Mansaita river bridge road on Prayagraj -Varanasi highway under the limits of Tharwai police station. Police said that this container, collided with a truck and turned turtle. Following the incident, VHP leaders have registered a case against unknown persons under appropriate sections of cow slaughter prevention act.Meanwhile, Naini police have also arrested a criminal identified as Anil Nishad, a resident of Lavayan kala and seized one country made pistol of 0.315 bore and three live cartridges from his possession. Police said that Anil was wanted by police in connection with an attack and assault case wherein he had allegedly attacked a man over a monetary dispute. tnn
