2 HC advocates appointed judges

Prayagraj: Central govt cleared appointment of two advocates of Allahabad High Court, Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla, as judges of Allahabad High Court, through a notification by Union ministry of law and justice, dated Sept 6. Supreme Court collegium had recommended their names for appointment on Mar 25.At present, Allahabad High Court has 85 judges, including the Chief Justice, as against a sanctioned strength of 160. While Rajiv Lochan Shukla is a practising lawyer of Allahabad high court, Amitabh Kumar Rai is a practising lawyer of Lucknow bench of this court. The two newly appointed judges will be administered oath by chief justice of Allahabad High Court soon.
