In a major breakthrough, the Kaushambi police on Wednesday seized at least 13 stolen ashtadhatu idols worth Rs five crore and arrested four miscreants near Kokhraj.

ALLAHABAD: In a major breakthrough, the Kaushambi police on Wednesday seized at least 13 stolen ashtadhatu idols worth Rs five crore and arrested four miscreants near Kokhraj. The arrest was made when these persons were plotting to sale the idols to the customers.
The arrested persons were identified as Surjeet Singh Yadav of Chak Damroopur, Rajeev Dwivedi of Pulwa Bi-Rampur (Paschim Sarira), Shashank Srivastava of Bharwari and Anil Kumar Tripathi of Naya Bazar.
Station Officer, Kokhraj police station told TOI that these persons were involved in smuggling of ashtadhatu idols and were plotting to sale it near Muratganj. He added that these idols were stolen from different parts of the district and FIRs in the same regard were registered with different police stations.
He also said that most of the idols were lifted from three different temples coming under Kokhraj police circle.
