TADA court gives surrendered terrorist 7 yrs imprisonment

Ajmer: The designated Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (TADA) Prevention Act court here on Thursday sentenced terrorist Sukh Darshan Singh Jat to seven years in jail. He was caught by the BSF in 1989 with heavy weapons on the Indo-Pakistan border but had escaped in 1993. He surrendered before the TADA court three months ago.According to special prosecutor Brijesh Kumar Pandey, in January 1989 there were terrorist incidents in Punjab near the Pakistan border and during that time BSF in an operation apprehended Sukh Darshan Singh Jat, resident of Khudia village in Faridkot in Punjab, along with heavy weapons. Later, when police searched the house of Singh, more weapons were found there. During the court proceedings he escaped from police custody in 1993. In October last year, he unexpectedly surrendered before the TADA court. The TADA court judge Mahaveer Parsad Gupta sentenced Singh to 7 years in jail under sections of TADA and Arms Act.
