BANDANWARA (AJMER): A 38-year old
farmer
allegedly attempted suicide in Kumahariya village near Bandanwara on Friday night for being 'socially disgraced' due to non-payment of bank loans
However, Laddu Gujjar (38), who had taken a loan of Rs1.20 lakh through Kisan credit card by forfeiting his 30 bighas land, was saved by his friends.
Gujjar got a notice to repay Rs 2.38 lakh, which also stated that if he was unable to pay the loan then his land will be auctioned on January 19.
"He was extremely disturbed by the fact that the auction notice was pasted all over the village including the IT centre of gram panchayat. Due to inadequate rain, he lost his crops. Also due to ill health, he had been under treatment for a long time. But the bank was calling him regularly," said Kannha Gujjar, a friend of the victim.
He has three children including a daughter, "He was getting continuous warning from the bank. He tried to hang himself on Friday night, but his friend Kannha Gujjar and others reached and took him down," said
Sohan Gujjar

Meanwhile district collector Ansh Deep sent a team to investigate the matter.
The district magistrate said that the matter of recovery is an old matter as new directions from the state government have already been circulated.
