7 of interstate burglary gang arrested along with jeweller
Ajmer: City police on Thursday arrested seven members of an interstate burglary gang along with a jeweller from Bhilwara who purchased the stolen ornaments from them.
Police seized two cars, one was stolen from Begu of Chittorgarh, and another was rented. Police also recovered gold and silver ornaments and cash worth several lakh from the accused.
Sanif Mohammad, a resident of India Gate Colony of Gegal, on June 23, lodged a complaint at the Gegal police station that on June 20, while he was sleeping with his family, burglars broke in and took cash and jewellery from his house.
On his report, Ajmer SP, Devendra Kumar Bishnoi, formed a special team to nab this gang. The police started collecting information from the local database but found that the way the gang cut the iron rods with a cutter was not the method of local burglars. The team collected data from different districts and, through cyber vigilance, found that the accused were near Pushkar.
The team found that the accused were in a car at Vishramsthali in Pushkar. When the accused saw the police, they tried to escape and sped up their car, which overturned in the sand near a village.
Bishnoi said during investigation, it was found that they had made burglaries in different districts of Rajasthan, including Rajasmand, Bhilwara, Kuchaman, Pali, Didwana, Dudu, and others. Accused Ishwar is having 16 criminal cases registered against him, while other members have six to eight cases in different districts, he said.
