Ajmer: The state govt has prohibited fishing till Aug 31 to promote breeding during monsoon. The ban has been in force from June 15.
Anil Kumar Joshi, assistant director of the fisheries department (regional), said that that a team has been formed to enforce the fishing ban during the prohibited season. This team conducts regular checks to prevent fishing activities.
Since June 15, seven cases have been registered, and 20 nets and 25 kilogram of fish have been seized, followed by appropriate legal action, he said.
He mentioned that the state govt's directives are being strictly enforced in the area. The departmental team conducts thorough inspections of all reservoirs, seizing nets, fishing equipment, and fish. The seized fish are disposed of according to regulations, he said.
Joshi said the team's efforts have yielded positive results, significantly reducing fishing activities during the prohibited season. This period is crucial for fish breeding, which will aid in the development of fish species.
Actions have been taken in reservoirs in Anasagar, Bisundani, Kekdi area, Govta Ghata, and Jahazpur area. Regular checks will continue throughout the prohibited season to prvent illegal fishing , he said.
