AJMER: A doctor, who allegedly looted a nationalised bank in Kishangarh by brandishing a toy pistol and showing a fake dynamite box, was arrested along with his mechanic friend by the Ajmer police on Saturday.

The duo robbed the bank located on Khoda Ganesh Road in Kishangarh on October 7 to repay their loans, police said. The accused doctor had set up a hospital in Pali after taking a loan from a bank but failed to run the hospital. The accused mechanic, who had gone overseas to earn but returned to India with a loan on his head, allegedly assisted the doctor in the robbery.

Ajmer SP Chuna Ram Jat said that on October 7 the bank manager made a complaint that two men wearinghelmets came inside with pistols and threatened to blow the bank with dynamites. They demanded Rs 40 lakh but got just Rs 3.76 lakh from the cash counter.

Police constituted a special team to investigate and checked more than 800 CCTV cameras. Police arrested Prem Singh (27), a resident ofGanj Ajmer and Kamlesh (26), a resident of Sundervilas of Ajmer. Police said both accused planned to get easy and quick money. A day before the loot, one of the accused went to Khoda Ganesh Temple and on the way he saw the bank which is located in a remote place. The duo purchased fake pistols to loot the bank.
