Cops cane protesting members of BJP youth wing near RPSC office in Ajmer
Ajmer: Several members of BJP’s youth wing, including national president Tejaswi Surya, were detained and 22 of them were injured when police lathi-charged them at Ghooghra Ghati to foil their attempt to gherao the RPSC office here on Tuesday afternoon. Four women constables deployed near the RPSC office fainted because of high humidity and heat while the agitation was underway. Senior BJP leaders left the agitation to take the injured to hospital after police initiated lathicharge at Ghooghra Ghati.Interviews of candidates selected in RAS 2021 exam and the counselling for recruited senior teachers was taking place at the RPSC office. Section 144 had been imposed and police accordingly blocked the march of BJP workers about 500 meters before the office building. This stretch of Jaipur Road remained closed and traffic was diverted to other routes.The protest called by the BJP’s youth wing and later supported by the BJP as part of its “Nahi Sahega Rajasthan” campaign started about 3 hours late, at 1pm in the afternoon instead of 10am. BJP workers put up a dais on the road and senior BJP leaders C P Joshi, Bhagirath Choudhary, MP Balaknath and others addressed the gathering. Later, an effigy of CM Ashok Gehlot was carried on the road by members of the youth wing.When the march started, the first police barricade it encountered was at Sofia School. Agitators broke through the barricade even as police tried to stop them. The second set of barricades was at Bhopo ka Bara, where the agitators once again broke through by climbing over them. It was here that two women constables fainted because of high humidity.At the third barricades at Ghooghra Ghati, where SP Chuna Ram Jat and other senior officers were present, two women constables deployed on the front line fainted because of the weather. BJP MP Balaknath tried to climb over the barricades and protesters broke through 4 layers of barricades. Police then started lathicharge. State president of youth wing Ankit Chechi, Rahul Jaiswal and others were injured. C P Joshi, Bhagirath Choudhary, Balaknath and other senior leaders called for a car and took the injured to hospital. As many as 22 injured were taken to hospital.Later, national president of BJP’s youth wing Tejasvi Surya was detained along with some of his supporters.
