Ajmer div of NWR slaps Rs 15.5 lakh penalty in a day
AJMER: Ajmer division of North Western Railways imposed penalties on 2,788 people and collected Rs 15.5 lakh in a single day on Saturday during checking in different trains in the division. Division claim that this is the highest collected penalty in a day in the division.
Senior divisional commercial manager Sunil Kumar said that on Saturday a checking campaign was initiated on different routes of the division. Teams were constituted at Ajmer, Abu Road, Palanpur (Gujarat), Udaipur and Dungarpur and different trains and railway stations were checked and penalty was imposed on those travelling without ticket or travelling in reserved coaches, carrying language without booking and smoking. Total 2,788 cases were filed and railways collected Rs 15.5 lakh by way of penalties.
"This is the highest record of collecting penalties in a single day in Ajmer division," said Sunil Kumar.
Ticket inspector Nanaram with his team of 28 ticket checking staff completed this task in a day.
