Police said Kajal Mehara (17), who was appearing for class 10 board examinations this year as a private student, hanged herself to death at her house in Gujjar Dharti area. She had failed in the same examination last year and was under pressure this time. Her father, Rakesh Mehara, said she was the eldest of his three daughters.

A team from Alwar Gate police station took her to JLN Hospital, where she was declared dead. Her mother, Kailash Devi, said Kajal had taken a bath on Monday morning and said she was going for prayers for her examination, but she then closed the door of her room and killed herself.

Arif Khan (14) hanged himself to death at his house at CRPF quarters on Foisagar Road. His mother saw him hanging in his room on Monday morning and informed Ganj police station. She said Arif had gone out to play with his friends on Sunday evening and, when he returned home late, she had scolded him for his not studying enough for his examination. Arif then went into his room and committed suicide in the night.

Haseena (28), a resident of Ratidang area under Christian Ganj police station, hanged herself to death in her room at her father's house, where she and her husband, a farmer, lived. Her father said she was under treatment for depression for a long time. Police said a probe was underway.
