Youth hacked to death after scuffle
AHMEDABAD: Two men stabbed a 22-year-old youth to death after a scuffle in Meghaninagar late on Wednesday night. Two persons have been detained in connection with the killing.According to Meghaninagar police station officials,Jeetendra Chaudhary, 22, a resident of Trikamlal ni Chali in Meghaninagar, wasattacked by Ramesh Rawat alias Shetty and another person near Shantinagar busstand where they had gathered for a meeting."Jeetendra, a worker ina denim assembling unit near Kalupur, had tried to play peacemaker when Rawatand others were fighting in public near Trikamlal ni Chali two days back. Apassing police van had picked Rawat and three others for creating ruckus in thepublic. As a result, Rawat held grudge against Jeetendra," said SF Saiyad,inspector of Meghaninagar police station.According to investigators,Jeetendra was taken to a public toilet near AMTS bus stand and was stabbedseveral times. Jeetendra's friend Vishnu Makwana has mentioned in his complaintthat Rawat and an unidentified man, who had tied a handkerchief on his face tohide his identity, attacked Jeetendra as soon as he reached thespot.Police officials, however, said the incident took place in acrowded locality in full public view and if anybody from the public had dared tochallenge the assailants, Jeetendra's life could have been saved.Rawat is said to be a local strongman and works at a governmentguest house. He was involved in a couple of incidents earlier, saidinvestigators.
