Youth beaten to death by friends in Satellite

AHMEDABAD: A 20-year old youth was beaten up by his friends when they were returning from a garba venue in Ghatlodia. He was later admitted to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday afternoon. Satellite police station officials have registered a case of abduction and murder against his friends.
According to Satellite police station officials, Manoj Desai, 20, a resident of Sheshnagar Society, near Vastrapur railway station, Satellite, was admitted to a private hospital on SG Highway in wee hours of Wednesday by unidentified men.As he was beaten up, police were called in.
"When his primary statement was taken, he was barely able to speak. However, he pointed towards his friends, including Dinesh Rabari, Fulesh Rabari, Kalpesh Rabari, Mahesh Rabari, Dinesh Rabari and Shailesh Rabari, all residing near Vastrapur railway station. The group had been to a garba venue in Ghatlodia. From there, the vehicle took a turn towards Vayna village in Ahmedabad rural. On the way, he was beaten up by lathis and other weapons," said MR Gupta, inspector of Satellite police station.
Desai was beaten up in a moving vehicle according to his statement. However, officials are not aware as to who informed emergency medical services and who took him to the hospital. Officials, however, got to know that it was a group of friends who were together during previous Navratri nights. Even on Wednesday, the officials said that they were together until 12.30 am. The incident took place between 12.30 am and 3.45 am and the group was travelling in a van.
"We believe it to be a case of internal feud. Right now, all the friends of Desai are accused. It can be a case of money issues or a girl or some other social issues. Desai's father Ishwarbhai has filed a case of abduction and attempt to murder. A section for murder was also added in the case," said Gupta.
