AHMEDABAD: A young engineer, involved in construction of the new Sachivalaya at
Gandhinagar, was stabbed in the back by unknown assailants near Darpan crossroads on Monday morning. In his statement, Nimit Shah, 27, the victim, has cited possibility of
family feud as reason for the assault. Police have started a search for the assailants. Investigators said that Shah’s father was similarly assaulted last year.
According to Gujarat University police, Shah, a resident of Pushpak Tower on Judges Bungalow Road, was driving his bike nearDarpan crossroads at 9.30 am. Two men approached him on a bike from behind and stabbed him in the back. Shah lost his balance and fell on the road after being hurt. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby. “Shah is an US-educated engineer and is working with a firm owned by Hasmukh Patel. Shah’s father Mukesh Shah is a builder. In his statement, he has mentioned that the bike rider was wearing a dark helmet and the pillion rider had tied a handkerchief around his face, making the identification difficult. Shah has mentioned that a similar assault had taken place on his father in 2012. Mukesh Shah and his brother has had a long feud related to ancestral property and a court case is pending.
