Ahmedabad: City crime branch arrested two women, Rajeshwari Jadav (29) and Sonal Gaikwad (31), for stealing valuables and jewellery from commuters using BRTS and AMTS buses. Investigators say the duo are involved in multiple such thefts in the city.
Crime branch officials said both are residents of Kubernagar and were nabbed after a tip-off was received.
Police said they confessed to stealing Rs 1 lakh cash from a passenger’s pocket aboard a crowded bus in Ellisbridge.
Police said Jadav had earlier been arrested for cases in Satellite, Khadia, Rakhial, Karanj, Danilimda, Kagdapith and Ellisbridge. She was twice externed under PASA twice and sent to Jamnagar and Surat jails.
Gaikwad has earlier been arrested for cases filed at the police stations of Kalupur, Satellite, Isanpur, Khadia, Rakhial, Gujarat University, Kagdapith, Naranpura and Ellisbridge.

Upon questioning, he admitted his identity and revealed the location of five more stolen motorcycles. In total, six stolen motorcycles and one Activa were seized from him.
