Woman power shines at Gujarat University convocation

AHMEDABAD: It took many sleepless nights and long working days for city-based business and marketing consultant Chandani Kapadia to finally be awarded her law degree at the 67th Convocation Ceremony of Gujarat University on Wednesday and the effort, according to her, was worth it.

“I am indeed happy with the result and it is finally worthwhile, given the effort I put in. While working, I realized I must have a degree in law as it would add value to my work and that’s when I enrolled in a law course at the university in 2015. My parents have been extremely supportive,” said Kapadia, 38, who did her BCom from Gujarat University and business management, from the London School of Economics.

More than 250 academic achievers were awarded gold medals for their performance, of which 182 were women. This means 77% of the academic achievers at the convocation were women. Some of these include Astha Mehra, postgraduate student of BJ Medical College who was awarded four gold medals for excellence in academia; Chandani Joshi, postgraduate student of NHL medical college who won four medals; Shivani Bhatt, MBBS student of NHL medical college, who won five medals, among others.
