Woman lured with modelling job, duped

Ahmedabad: A 20-year-old woman from Chandkheda on Wednesday filed a complaint with police alleging that she was duped of Rs 70,000 by a man from Gandhinagar, who had promised her modelling assignments for GIFT City.
On July 9, a resident of Bopal had filed a complaint of a similar nature against the same accused, Viraj Ashwin, a resident of Sargasan in Gandhinagar. Manmeet Kaur, a resident of Shardakrupa Society in Chandkheda, is a third-year BBA student and her father works for a private company in Rajasthan.
She said that she had done some modelling assignments with her friend, Ananya Chaudhary, who had filed the complaint with Bopal police on July 9. Manmeet said Chaudhary introduced her to Ashwin, who promised her a modeling assignment for GIFT City and assured her that she would get Rs 12.80 lakh in advance. He later asked her to transfer Rs 70,000 to his account and promised her to return the money after the assignment. But after she transferred the amount, he went incommunicado. tnn
