Woman kills uncle after alleged sexual assault
AHMEDABAD: Bopal police on Sunday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a senior citizen, Govind Patel. The deceased's niece too has been arrested for murder. Investigators said that the niece accused that she got her uncle killed because he had molested and assaulted her.
According to Bopal police officials, they were intimated by a security guard in the outskirts of Lapkaman village on Saturday that he had not seen the occupant of the bungalow Govind Patel, 65, a resident of Chanakyapuri, for two days.

Patel, a retired public works department (PWD) official, used to spend most of his time at Lapkaman looking after his property.
Police entered the premises on Friday after breaking the lock and found Patel dead in the drawing room. The marks on his neck suggested that he was choked to death.
"In his statement, the watchman had mentioned that he had seen a car exiting from Patel's property and Pallavi, 40, Patel's niece, was in the car along with an unidentified man. On the basis of the information, we asked him to call Pallavi and break the news of her uncle's death. She did not seem surprised and had asked him not to bother her again. Our suspicion grew stronger as we kept calling her and asking her location and she gave us wrong information," said a Bopal police official.
She was finally apprehended from her residence near Dholka where she feigned ignorance initially. When she was shown the proof of her bluff and account of eyewitness, she told investigators that she was close to her uncle. The property worth Rs 30 crore was shared by her and Patel jointly. As per her statement, of late Patel, who had not got married, had started making advances and also offered to name his share of the property to her if she cooperates.

"She refused time and again but when she went on Friday to meet him, Patel assaulted her and when she tried to protest, injured her on chest and shoulders. She fled from the spot and sought help of Ghanshyamsinh Vanar, a resident of Kaniyara, a village near Dholka. She and Vanar approached Patel on the same night when after a scuffle and arguments, Vanar choked Patel to death. The duo then fled from the spot," said the official.
Police, however, believe there is more to the story. "She indeed has injury marks and we have sent her for medical check-up. However, she has failed to explain why she used to meet Patel even after the latter made his intentions clear. Second, she is not talking about her relationship with Vanar and why she sought help from him. She only knew him as a former employee for her father," said the official.
