AHMEDABAD: A 28-year-old woman ended life early on Sunday morning by jumping from the 14th floor of an under-construction building in Gota along with her five-year-old son. The building is of Mukhya Mantri Aawas Yojna being constructed near Vasantnagar Township. Investigators said that the woman was suffering from epileptic fits.
According to Sola police, the construction workers who arrived at the site reported two bodies near a building to the supervisors at 9am on Sunday.
The victims were later identified as Ramila Rabari, 28, and her son Akshay, 5, residents of Suryadeep Society in Gota about half-a-kilometres from the spot. It is suspected that the duo might have jumped from terrace of the building early in the morning.
“Ramila was living with her in-laws and was engaged in petty jobs as domestic help in the area. Her husband Kanu Rabari is imprisoned after being convicted in a murder case for the past eight months. The family’s financial condition was not good and on the top of it, she was suffering from epilepsy. We suspect both financial and health reasons for her to end life. She might have been worried about future of her son and might have taken him along,” said a police investigator.
C L Solanki, inspector of Sola police station, said that the family is native of Mehsana. “The couple was married for seven years and her relatives’ statements would also be recorded. We have not found any suicide note as on Sunday evening. The probe is on,” he said.
