Woman, daughter nab chain snatcher

AHMEDABAD: A 30-year-old man from Sabarkantha was caught by a mother-daughter duo in Paldi after the man tried to flee after snatching a chain on Friday evening. Police have recovered two gold chains from him.
According to Ellisbridge police, Medha and her mother Radha Patel, residents of Paldi, were walking from near Vikas Gruh at 7 pm on Friday. At that time, a man came near the duo and snatched a gold chain worn by Radha Patel and tried to flee from the spot.
"The man could not start his bike as it got jammed a few feet away from the duo despite several attempts. By that time, the duo had raised an alarm and had rushed to the spot to get hold of the accused. The man, later identified as Ismail Memon, a resident of Idar, was caught by the nearby residents and was beaten up. He was later handed over to police," said an Ellisbridge police official.
Investigators said that Memon used to come to Ahmedabad and snatch gold chains primarily in western city parts. Police have started investigation about the previous instances where Memon was involved.
