Ahmedabad: Following a light drizzle on Saturday night a 12-year-old boy, Bipin Koli, from Sifon society in Chandkheda was electrocuted after the boy touched the society’s gate — near which the UGVCL was undertaking an electric line repair work. A woman,
Archana Gupta, who had leapt to save the boy too died on the spot. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital by society residents.
Archana was a neighbour to the boy.
Officials in the police control room told TOI that a live electric cable was not deactivated by the contractors. A loose end of the cable came in touch with the iron gate of the society. Bipin was not aware of the repair works and he touched the gate. On seeing Bipin in distress Archana leapt to save the boy, but she too died on the spot. A senior Chandkheda police officer said that a team was at the spot and were meeting the victims’ family members. Meanwhile, residents of the society allegedly created a ruckus at the hospital after the hospital refused to part with the body of the boy. Police officials were yet to confirm the incident.
