UTT table tennis tourney kicks off in Vadodara

Ahmedabad: Eighty-three paddlers spread across 20 teams battled it out for the top honours as the UTT Table tennis championship kicked off on Saturday at the Table Tennis Association of Baroda (TTAB)-MSU Table Tennis Centre in Fatehgunj, Vadodara. In the first match-up, T Square thumped Linde Engineering Pvt Ltd ‘A’ 3-0. Satish Patel defeated Yogesh Dhotre 11-4, 11-1, 11-5 while Hemant Parekh beat Darshan Singh Rana 11-5, 11-1, 11-5. In the doubles, Vishal Raval and K Trivedi saw off the challenge of Hitesh Panchal and Bhupendra Hire 11-9, 11-5, 11-6. Meanwhile, Vadodara division Western Railway got the better off IMA-2 3-1.In other match-ups, ONGC thrashed Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) 3-0 while RIL smashed Linde Engineering Pvt Ltd ‘B’ 3-0. The finals will be played today.
