AHMEDABAD: Two groups of youngsters came to blows at a roadside eatery near Sola on Wednesday. Two students were injured grievously and shifted to Sola Civil Hospital. Investigators said it was fight for dominance on college campus that led to the incident.
Police said a popular roadside eatery near Cinemax is thronged by students living in RC Technical School near Sola Civil Hospital on SG Highway.
When a group of students was having their dinner at 8.30 pm on Wednesday, another group approached them and started beating them with lathis and iron pipes.
"While some managed to flee, the group got hold of Rahul Prajapati, 16, and Chirag Darji, 17. The duo was beaten up. When the nearby shopkeepers and other students intervened, the group fled. The injured were rushed to Sola Civil Hospital for treatment. The incident was then reported to college authorities," said a Sola police station official.
According to investigators, the victims mentioned names of Kunal Patel, Jaydeep Patel, Munna Rabari and Raju Rabari in their complaint. While Kunal is a student of the institute, Jaydeep has dropped out of the college. Munna and Raju have however never been associated with the college.
According to the complaint, anti-social elements used to throng the institute hostel. The matter was brought to the notice of the warden after which they were warned not to come to the college. Officials believe that the attack was in response to that complaint. Officials have intimated hostel authorities to report them about the accused in the case.
