Ahmedabad: Two men working as employees in an electronic goods showroom have been accused of embezzling Rs 17 lakh in a year.
Filing a complaint with
Navrangpura
police on Tuesday, senior employee,
Rakesh Kidia
, said: “I work as zonal manager at the showroom in Navrangpura. During a surprise check last August, I found some irregularities in the bills and stock of cellphones and televisions. As many as 65 cellphones, 16 televisions and other accessories with a total value of Rs 35 lakh had been sold illegally. No entries for the sales were made on the firm’s server.”
When Kidia asked showroom manager
Kaushal Dave
and accountant
Kushal Patel about the irregularities, they allegedly confessed that they had sold the cellphones for their financial gain. “The duo returned Rs 18 lakh to the firm but refused to return the remaining Rs 17 lakh,” said Kidia who then approached the police and filed a complaint of breach of trust.
