AHMEDABAD: A team of city crime branch arrested two people involved in robbery attempt at a petrol pump near Parimal Garden on July 13. The duo said that they were tipped off by one of the petrol pump employees about cash at the counter. However, when one of the employees present confronted the group, they got frightened and abandoned the plan.
On July 13, four robbers had targeted Krupa Petroleum Services near Parimal Garden at 3.45am and had targeted the manager's cabin where two employees were seated behind the counter. One of the employees sustained minor injuries in the incident as the robbers fled from the spot. Police had found CCTV of outside the cabin.
According to crime branch officials, working on specific inputs, investigators arrested Rahul Sharma, 23, and Rajendra Rajput alias Anil, 19, both residents of Vastral, from near RTO in Vastral on Friday.
"Rahul works in the same pump where the robbery had taken place and was even present when the robbers had barged into the office. He had to pay a sum to Ravi Raju Pal, his friend and neighbour. In lieu, Sharma offered to pass on the information about cash at the petrol pump that he and others could rob without difficulty," said an investigator.
As per the plan, Pal, Rajput and two others had come to the petrol pump wearing handkerchiefs on their faces so as to prevent identification early in the morning. However, Sharma's fellow employee Mukesh Vyas retaliated. In a reflex, Rajput assaulted Vyas with a knife. As Vyas fled outside, the group got frightened and left the spot without taking the money," said an investigator.
