Turmoil in parties as final lists emerge

The day passed in turmoil with BJP receiving the resignation of party loyalist Satish Patel from Thakkarbapanagar after his candidature was rejected, while Congress's legal cell committee head B M Mangukiya got irked by the party rejecteding his supporters and resigned.

The day passed in turmoil with BJP receiving the resignation of party loyalist Satish Patel from Thakkarbapanagar after his candidature was rejected, while Congress's legal cell committee head B M Mangukiya got irked by the party rejecteding his supporters and resigned.

Another important event was Congress­NCP alliance ending in Gujarat with Congress refusing to forego Gomtipur ward for NCP in the AMC. Till late Satur day afternoon, there were hectic arguments between representatives of the two parties which finally ended with the Congress breaking the alliance. “Iqbal Sheikh has finally been restored to his seat in Gomtipur ward,“ said a senior Congress leader.
In Jamalpur ward, AICC had recommended minority affairs chief Khurshid Saiyed's son Shakil Syed for one of the seats, for which Congress heavyweight from the area Liyaqat Gori had to forego his claim.
Another recommendation for Shahnawaz Sheikh came from Rahul Gandhi's office, which led the Congress to deny another old loyalist the ticket.
Bargaining fails to get Congmen ticket
Till the last moment, the Congress party refused to give ticket to senior party members like Vinod Modi and Liyakat Ghori. Yet both the senior leaders kept bargaining for ticket. If sources are to be believed, Ghori also demanded ticket for his daughter from Jamalpur.But party leaders were adamant that Modi and Ghori would not to be given ticket this time.
Patidar leaders' lawyer unhappy

S enior lawyer and chairman of Congress's legal cell B M Mangukiya was reportedly unhappy with the party's refusal to give tickets to his supporters. Hence, he too registered his protest against the party leadership. Rumours were doing the rounds that Mangukiya had resigned from post of legal cell chairman but the party leadership had not accepted his resignation.Earlier, Mangukiya contested two assembly polls on Congress ticket.
Quota warrior is choice for Thakkarnagar
BJP general secretary in Thakkarnagar ward, Satish Patel, along with around 150 supporters on Saturday, left the party on the issue of tickets being given to an agitator for reservation for Patidars. “I along with 150 party workers have tendered my resignation. The party ignored its dedicated workers while giving the ticket for Thakkarnagar ward,“ Patel said.He further alleged that the party had chosen Dixit Patel who was an accused of assaulting someone during the Patel quota agitation.
