AHMEDABAD: Chandkheda police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) and the Prevention of Atrocities Act against a 45-year-old tuition teacher, Govind Patel, for molesting a 15-year-old boy.
Chandkheda police inspector V S Vanzara said that based on the complaint of the father, a case has been registered and was transferred to the SC-ST cell for further investigation. The child is a Class 10 student and went to Patel for tuition.
Police said that the complaint alleged that Patel used to make obscene gestures at the boy and touch his body. As this was becoming routine, the boy told his parents.
The complaint filed by the father states that the teachers would also call the boy on his mobile and talk dirty to him. Police said the complaint has not alleged that the boy was sodomized.
Police said since this case also involves a complaint under the Atrocities Act, it has been transferred and will now be investigated by a senior officer. Police said they will also question other students to find out if the teacher had behaved similarly with other children.
