Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s Tirth Joshi won a gold medal in boys’ singles of tennis event at the 66th U-19 School National Games, organised by School Games Federation Of India, in New Delhi on Tuesday.Sixteenth seed Tirth, who trains at the Master Tennis Academy in Bhuj, displayed resilience to stun top seed Deepam Malik, ranked 18th as per All India Tennis Association (AITA) charts, 8-6 in the final. In the semifinal, the 18-year-old Tirth, who hails from Bhuj, had outwitted second seed Azmeer Shaikh 7-6 (3).Gujarat para athlete Ajit makes the cut for WorldsPara athlete Ajit Kumar Panchal will be the sole para player from Gujarat in the Indian contingent participating in the 2023 World Para Athletics Championship, to be held in Paris on July 8-17.
