AHMEDABAD: A constable and a policeman who tried to intervene in a scuffle between two groups were beaten up in Ghatlodia on Friday night. Ghatlodia police station have filed a complaint against three persons for the attack and have started a search for them.
According to Ghatlodia police, the incident took place at Prabhat Chowk in Ghatlodia on Friday evening.

According to sources, Jayesh Thakor, a local bootlegger and history-sheeter had been to a handcart selling egg products near the chowk when he was approached by a group of youths. A scuffle then broke out.
At that time, Mukesh Pandya, a clerk with ACP B Division office in Ghatlodia police station and a constable tried to intervene in the matter. However, the youths attacked him and Pandya was hit on his head. He was rushed to a private hospital after the incident.
Sources said that the youths were angry as the duo tried to favour the bootlegger.
When police officials were contacted on the issue, they refuted any such claims and said that Pandya was passing by and tried to pacify the groups.
