Third admission round likely to fill 600 PG medical seats

Ahmedabad: The admission committee for professional postgraduate medical educational courses is likely to announce a third round of admissions for medical and dental postgraduate courses, after the Union health ministry revised the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET PG 2023 to zero on Wednesday. There are 600 postgraduate medical and dental seats vacant in the state after two rounds of admission. These include 250 seats in non-clinical branches such as physiology, biochemistry, forensic medicine, pharmacology, anatomy, micro-biology, and community medicine. Sources said students usually don’t prefer non-clinical medical branches but with the new zero percentile decision, these seats will get filled. Sources said the central committee has already announced a third round of admissions and its schedule will be announced later. The state admission committee will announce the third round of admissions after the national admission committee’s round is over, sources said.

PG medical and dental admission cutoff reduced to zero

The Medical Counselling Committee has announced that all candidates who appeared for the NEET-PG 2023 are eligible to apply for postgraduate medical and dental courses, even if they scored zero in the entrance test. The cutoff has been reduced to zero from 291 for the general category and 257 for reserved categories. This decision was made due to the high number of vacant postgraduate seats across the country. The central counselling committee has also announced that fresh registration and choice filling for round-3 of PG counselling will be opened again for candidates.

Special round of admissions to mop up students for Std XI

The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) in Nagpur, Maharashtra, is entering its sixth round to fill seats for Std XI. This special round aims to attract candidates who appeared for supplementary SSC exams. The CAP has been a point of contention as colleges feel it favors specific institutions. However, an education official clarifies that colleges are chosen by students themselves based on preferences provided to the software. Meanwhile, in Dakshina Kannada, government PU colleges are witnessing a decline in admissions compared to unaided colleges, partly due to better quality education and coaching facilities offered by private institutions.

AKTU UPTAC 2023 Counselling: Round 1 choice filling begins today on uptac.admissions.nic.in

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has announced the start of choice-filling for the AKTU UPTAC counselling 2023. JEE Main candidates can fill in their choices from September 15 to September 17, while CUET UG and CUET PG candidates can do so from September 16 to September 18. The Round 1 allotment result for BTech and BArch programs will be released on September 18.
