Thakor, dalit leaders back PAAS stir over Mandvi rape

AHMEDABAD: Alpesh Thakor, convener of Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena, and Jignesh Mevani, convener of Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch, on Monday, extended support to the call for a stir raised by Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) over the rape and murder of a 50-year-old woman of Bhavnagar.
Talking to reporters at a joint press conference, Thakor said that his group will support the call of Patidars.“The Patidars have given an ultimatum of 48 hours to the government to nab the accused in the rape and murder case of a 50-year-old woman. If the government does not book the accused, then we will support the stir of Patidars for the sake of justice to the victim,” he said.
Mevani said dalit community members will also support the call and demanded that the government and its police initiate swift action in the rape and murder of the Bhavnagar-based woman and also in the rape case of a Patdi-based dalit woman.
