Teen’s joyride in father’s car ends with death of 60-yr-old man
Ahmedabad: A 13-year-old boy allegedly driving a car without his parents' knowledge caused a fatal accident in the Danilimda area of Ahmedabad on Monday morning, killing a 60-year-old man and injuring a four-year-old girl. Police have registered a case the and issued a notice to the boy's guardian.The incident occurred near Gate 2 of the boy's housing society around 10.30am. According to police, the complaint was lodged by Imran Shaikh after his father, Nurmohammad Shaikh, died in the accident.Police said the minor, a Class 8 student, allegedly took the car from his house without informing his parents after his father had left for work. While driving near the society gate, the boy reportedly lost control of the vehicle and hit pedestrians, resulting in the death of the 60-year-old man and caused injuries to the young girl.Following the incident, K Traffic Police registered an offence under sections 281, 106(1), 125(a), 125(b) and 324 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 177, 184 and 134(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act and relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Police officials said the parents realised the boy was missing after some time and began searching for him. By then, the accident had already taken place near the society gate.As the driver was a juvenile, police issued a notice to his guardian and further investigation into the incident was underway.
