AHMEDABAD: Following a notification by state government, the Gujarat Technological University has declared that students who have got 45% marks in HSC science examination will be eligible for admission for in Engineering and Pharmacy colleges.
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) officials said that the state education department has issued a notification stating that the colleges can grant admission to students on 6,000-odd engineering and pharmacy seats which have remained vacant this year.
These seats will be given to students who have not appeared for their Gujarat Common Enterane Test (GUJCET) exam.
"Students who have scored 45 per cent marks in the HSC (science) will be eligible for admission. College can grant admission to students and provide details of the admissions granted to the GTU by October 8", said officials.
Officials said that since the seats were vacant in the state, the Gujarat government has decided to relax the norms. Earlier the government had decided that admission to engineering and pharmacy would be given on the basis of merit marks prepared taking into account the GUJCET and board examination. But as per the new decision students who have not appeared for GUJCET will also be eligible for admissions.
