Groundnut, pulses to be procured at MSP from Nov 11
Gandhinagar: The state govt on Monday said that it will purchase groundnut, moong, urad, and soybean at the minimum support price (MSP) from Nov 11. The procurement at MSP will continue for about 90 days, a state govt release said.Agriculture minister Raghavji Patel said that the aim was to support farmers and ensure fair compensation for their produce. He added that groundnut and pulses will be purchased at more than 160 centres across the state after ‘Labh Pancham'.Farmers will be required to register online on the e-Samruddhi portal via e-Gram centres between Oct 3 and Oct 31, the minister said. The MSP rates announced by the Central govt for the 2024-25 kharif season were groundnut at Rs 6,783 per quintal; moong Rs 8,682 per quintal; urad Rs 7,400 per quintal, and soybean Rs 4,892 per quintal.During the previous year, the state govt procured over 1.18 lakh metric tonnes of produce, worth Rs 671 crore, from 61,372 farmers under the price support scheme (PSS), the govt said, adding that arrangements are being made to ensure that more farmers benefit from MSP procurement this year.
