Ahmedabad: Quick on the heels of
Shaktisinh Gohil taking over as president of the state Congress, senior leaders of the Gujarat unit of the Congress party are expected to visit Delhi on Thursday.
The delegation will be led by GPCC president Shaktisinh Gohil and the state leaders are expected to hold deliberations with the central leadership of the party on the future programmes of the state unit.
“A group of 15 senior leaders of the state unit will be in Delhi for a courtesy visit. The new GPCC president has taken over and this will be a courtesy call,” GPCC spokesperson
Manish Doshi said.
He added, “The forthcoming programmes of the party as well as deliberations for the party’s strategy for next year’s Lok Sabha polls will also be discussed with the leadership.”
In his first media briefing after taking over as state party chief, Gohil said that the party will unite and win in Gujarat.
The state unit of the party has been plagued with factionalism for a long time and has received regular setbacks in the form of desertions by party leaders, including sitting MLAs.
