“The counter officer of immigration department noticed that many of the security features like kinegram, embossing, UV watermark, office seal stamp, commencing and expiry date of visa, check digit of the machine readable zone of the UK visa seemed forged and was not in order compared to a genuine UK visa,” stated the FIR.
Joseph said that the visa was arranged for him by his maternal uncle Paramanantham Nandan, a resident of Chennai.
“The person was also questioned about his suspected Sri Lankan identity which he denied. Apart from his passport, he did not have any other identity document. He stated that he had lost his wallet while travelling from Mumbai recently,” the FIR stated.
Airport police booked Joseph for forgery, forging documents and abetment in the offence of forging passport.
