AHMEDABAD: After the accused persons in the Naroda Gam case demanded to know the status of investigation, those charged in the case have also filed an application in the special court urging the court to direct the special investigation team (SIT) to make a statement regarding the probe.
One of the biggest massacres during 2002 riots, where 95 persons were killed the next day of Godhra carnage and various investigating agencies have arrested more than 60 persons in this regard.

The trial is taking place against 62 persons, including former state minister Maya Kodnani before special judge Dr Jyotsnaben Yagnik.
The defence lawyers filed this petition to know whether the investigation in the Patia massacre is over or not, and if it is still going on then procedure of accepting evidence by the court should be stalled till SIT filed a report stating that investigation is over.
The special public prosecutor Akhil Desai argued that SIT has been investigating the case as per the Supreme Court's directions and the investigating officer has got powers to continue investigation even after the charge sheet is filed.
After hearing both the parties, the court has kept its order reserved till Tuesday.
